À Propos
À Propos (French for By the Way) is a Canadian radio program that presents songs and other music performed in French of Canadian and international origins for English-speaking audiences.[1]
Hosted by Jim Corcoran, a fluently bilingual Quebec musician,[1] this show first aired on November 5, 1988. Its first episode centred on the music of Québécois rock icon Robert Charlebois.[2]
For many of the songs he plays, Corcoran prepares and recites a translation of the lyrics into English for the listening audience.[1] Some episodes also feature interviews with musicians; interviews over the years have included Charlebois, Michel Rivard, Daniel Lavoie, Caracol, Louis-Jean Cormier, Matthieu Chedid and Jane Birkin.[2]
The program is currently broadcast on Sunday afternoons on CBC Radio 2, and repeated Saturday nights on CBC Radio One.
