1st Kenya Rifles Battalion is the oldest unit of the Kenya Army. It is an offshoot of the pre-independent Kenya British Army formation the Kings African Rifles that was formed before the First World War and later fought against the Mau Mau insurgency. This unit is based in Nanyuki, Central Kenya.[1]
