Aaata (sponge)
For the beetle genus, see Aaata.
The genus name Aaata has been described as a synonym to two species in the Microcionidae family of sea sponges (Demospongiae). The two species being:
- Aaata brepha (de Laubenfels, 1930);[1][2][3][4][5][6][7] also known as Anaata brepha[6][8][9]
- Aaata spongigartina (de Laubenfels, 1930);[10][11][12][13] also known as Anaata spongigartina[14][15]
The above are synonyms for Clathria brepha and Clathria spongigartina respectively (de Laubenfels, 1930).[16][17][18] The two later names are now the currently accepted definitions for the species.[19][20]
