Abandoned and dismantled railway lines in Pakistan
In 1947, at the time of independence, Pakistan inherited 8,122 route kilometers (5,048 mi) railway lines. Of this some railway lines have been abandoned and dismantled. Which are:
Broad gauge Railway lines
- Mandra-Chakwal-Bhaun (74 km) [1]
- Sibi-Khost (130 km, constructed in 1888 and closed in 2006) [2]
- Tando Adam-Mehrabpur loop line (202 km closed in 1988)
- Padidan-Tharushah (29 km closed in 1988)
- Nawabshah-Sakrand (24 km closed in 1988)
- Larkana–Jacobabad loop line (136 km)
- Peshawar-Landi Kotal (50 km closed in 2006)
- Khanpur-Chachran (36 km)
- Khushab-Pind Dadan Khan (77 km)
- Bhera-Miani (15 km)
- Samasata-Amruka Branch Line via Bahawalnagar (257 km, constructed in 1894 and closed in 2011) [3]
- Fort Abbas–Bahawalnagar (constructed in 1928)
- Karachi Circular Railway loop line (29 km closed in 1999)
- Jammu Sialkot Line (cross border)
Narrow gauge Railway lines
- Bostan-Zhob (294 km constructed in 1929, closed in 1985 and dismantled in 2008)
- Mari Indus-Lakki Marwat-Bannu (144 km closed in 1991)
- Lakki Marwat-Tank (74 km closed in 1991)
- Kohat-Thal (100 km closed in 1991) [4]

- Jamrao-Pithoro loop line (184 km closed in 2005)
- Mirpur Khas-Nawabshah (129 km closed in 2005) [5]
