Adobe Spark is an integrated suite of storytelling applications for the iPad, iPhone, and web developed by Adobe Systems.[1] It comprises three separate design apps: Spark Page, Spark Post, and Spark Video. Its apps became the company's first to be named by Apple as an App Store Best App of the Year[2] and has been downloaded over 3.5 million times.[3]
Description
Free and designed for everyday communications, Adobe Spark is an integrated web and mobile solution for creating and sharing impactful visual stories. Its goal is to empower anyone, such as small businesses, social marketers and students, to create stunningly visual content that engages audiences across multiple channels and looks amazing on any device. A new service that is part of Creative Cloud, Adobe Spark brings Adobe’s 30+ years of technology and innovation for creative professionals to more creative consumers. The Adobe Spark web app seamlessly syncs with Spark Page, Spark Post and Spark Video iOS mobile apps, allowing users to create, edit and share their story from wherever they are, regardless of their design experience.[4]
History
In May 2014, Adobe launched Adobe Voice, a new animated video app for iPad that gives anyone the ability to create and share engaging video stories. Adobe Voice would later become what is now known as Adobe Spark Video.[5]
In April 2015, Adobe launched Adobe Slate, which was a text and photo-centric storytelling app for the iPad.[6] Adobe Slate would later become what is now known as Adobe Spark Page. The idea for it came in 2014, under the codename Project Luca.[7]
In October 2015, Adobe launched Adobe Slate on the web. Now, Adobe Slate projects will sync automatically between the web and iPad versions using Adobe Creative Cloud.[8]
In December 2015, Adobe launched Adobe Post as a new social graphics app for the iPhone and iPad. Adobe Post would later become what is now known as Adobe Spark Post.[9]
In January 2016, Adobe launched Adobe Voice 2.0 with full iPhone support for the first time. The new app allows users to sync projects using your Adobe account, which lets you create projects on one device and finish them on another.[10]
In May 2016, Adobe launched Adobe Spark, a web tool that integrates Adobe Post, Adobe Slate, and Adobe Voice together into one unified design platform. With the change, each of the three previous iOS apps were renamed; Adobe Post became Adobe Spark Post, Adobe Slate became Adobe Spark Page, and Adobe Voice became Adobe Spark Video.[11]
Products
Adobe Spark consists of three design apps:
- Spark Page helps people craft web stories. It can be used for things such as magazine-style travel stories, photo albums, online newsletters, reports, or anything else that you want to present on the web. It’s a simplified web editing platform, with tools that let you mix text and imagery in a highly visual way.[12]
- Spark Post lets people create professional graphics in seconds. While it leverages concepts from Adobe’s pro tools like Photoshop and InDesign, like the ability to layer images with text and filters, it makes this accessible to everyday users who can make these sorts of changes just by tapping buttons.[13]
- Spark Video lets people create animated videos in minutes. This isn’t a tool for filming content, however. Instead, you combine text, images, icons and themes in a presentation, then speak your voice over the story in order to create the video.[14]
