Adrushtavanthalu (English: Lucky Men) is a 1969 Telugu, action drama film, produced by V. B. Rajendra Prasad on Jagapathi Art Productions[2] banner and directed by V. Madhusudhan Rao.[3] Starring Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Jayalalitha in the lead roles and music composed by K. V. Mahadevan.[4] The film is remade as Tamil Movie Thirudan and as Hindi Movie Himmat(1970). The film recorded as Super Hit at the box office.[5]
Plot
Raghu (Akkineni Nageswara Rao) a notorious criminal released from jail after completing his imprisonment as a changed person and challenges the Inspector Murthy (Gummadi) that he is going to live as an honest person and prove himself in the society. So he turns as a truck driver for survival with the help of his friend Jakie (Padmanabham). While delivering goods via his truck, Raghu and Jackie help out a young man, who turns out to be a woman in disguise named Jaya (Jayalalitha). Jaya falls in love with Raghu and gets married and they soon have a baby girl named Baby (Baby Rani). Things are going well for this family when a visit from Police Inspector Murthy turns their lives upside down. For Murthy knows Raghu's criminal background and underground links, and refuses to believe that Raghu has now given up his old ways. Because of interference of Raghu criminal boss (Jaggaiah) & Inspector Murthy, Raghu not only loses his job but is unable to find any work, disaster strikes, contrived by the gangster who wants Raghu to reunite with the gang. Can Raghu prove to society, the law and to Jaya that he has indeed reformed?
