Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee (Georgia Senate)
The Senate Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee is an eight member legislative body consisting of a chairman, a vice-chairman, a secretary, an ex officio, and four members. The Committee operates under a Senate mandate to regulate all matters pertinent to agricultural land use.[1]
Scope and jurisdiction
The Senate Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee is responsible for regulating agricultural land use throughout the state, the use and exchange of commodities, the delegating of commissions, the managing of state fairs and expositions, and the monitoring of pest management and safe use of pesticides by ensuring the existence of adequate marketing law. The committee also reviews state laws surrounding consumer protection as well.[1]
