Ah Cacao Real Chocolate, SA de CV is a niche Mexican chocolate brand[1] based in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo near Cancun.[2] The company was founded in 2003 by entrepreneurs from Mexico.[3] Even though cacao was first domesticated in Mexico, today Ah Cacao Real Chocolate is one of only a few companies making premium chocolate products from Mexican cacao. Ah Cacao products are sold mainly in Mexico.[4]
The company operates four stores in Mexico under the name Ah Cacao Chocolate Café.[5] These stores sell packaged chocolate, coffee and vanilla products, prepared coffee and chocolate drinks and desserts, such as brownies.[6][7][8]
An integral part of the company's identity is its support of wildlife conservation efforts,[9][10] especially in the Riviera Maya.
In 2008 Ah Cacao Chocolate Café was featured on Rachel Ray's Tasty Travels, a Food Network TV show.[11]
In 2012 Ah Cacao was recognized as a "socially responsible company" (Empresa Socialmente Responsible) by Centro Mexicano para la Filantropía A.C. (CEMEFI/Mexican Center for Philanthropy)[12]
