Aino-Kaisa Pekonen
Aino-Kaisa Ilona Pekonen (born January 24, 1979 in Riihimäki)[1] is a Finnish politician of the Left Alliance.
Pekonen served originally as a practical nurse. She has represented the constituency of Tavastia in the Parliament of Finland since April 2011. She is currently serving as the chair of the Left Alliance Parliament Group and member of the Social Affairs and Health Committee of the Parliament. In addition, she is also first deputy chair of the Left Alliance and member of the city council of Riihimäki.[1][2]
In January 2016, Pekonen announced her candidacy for the leadership of the Left Alliance.[2] She withdrew from the race on June 6 in 2016, after losing the advisory membership vote of the party to Li Andersson.[3]
Pekonen is sister of the actor Aku Hirviniemi. Her both parents are politicians of the Left Alliance.[2]
