Allison Miller (born September 2, 1985) is an American actress. She is best known for playing Michelle Benjamin on the NBC series Kings, Skye Tate on the Fox series Terra Nova, and Carrie on the NBC series Go On.
Early life
Miller was born in Rome, Italy,[1] to American parents Margo and John Winn Miller.[2] Her father is the former publisher of The Olympian newspaper in Olympia, Washington.[3] He retired in January 2009 to pursue other interests. Her parents have since left Washington and moved back to the eastern United States.
Miller moved a lot as a child, growing up mostly in Lexington, Kentucky, before she started high school in State College [4] and finished at Maclay School in Tallahassee, Florida.
Miller very briefly attended Boston University[4] before attending Rhodes College for her Freshman year. She then transferred to the University of Florida in Gainesville.[4] She is a sister of Kappa Delta sorority and was featured in a story in Kappa Delta's newsletter The Angelos.
In 2006, Miller dropped out of college and moved to Hollywood to pursue her career full-time.[4] In addition to acting, she has training in voice, tap, and jazz, as well as in modern dance. She is a mezzo-soprano and plays the piano and the guitar. She is proficient in Spanish and French.[5]
Career
Miller started her career as member of the Young Actors Theatre in Tallahassee, Florida.[4] She appeared as Nora in the play Brighton Beach Memoirs for the theatre. In 2004, she was one of eight actresses chosen as finalists to play Laurie in the VH-1 reality show In Search of the New Partridge Family in 2004.[6][7] She appeared on television again in Lucy's Piano (2006). She then guest starred in episodes of television series such as General Hospital, CSI: NY, Desperate Housewives, and Boston Legal.
Miller appeared as a series regular on the NBC television drama series Kings, which was based on the biblical story of David.[8][9] She portrayed Princess Michelle Benjamin, an analogue of Michal (daughter of Saul and first wife of David). The series lasted only one season.
Miller appeared in two 2009 films: a live action version of Blood: The Last Vampire and 17 Again, where she played Zac Efron's high school girlfriend Scarlett.
In 2011, Miller co-starred as Skye Tate in the Steven Spielberg-produced series Terra Nova. The series was not renewed for a second season.[10] In 2012, she started appearing in the NBC comedy Go On opposite Matthew Perry. The show was cancelled after one season.[11]
In 2014, Miller starred in Devil's Due, a found-footage horror film, also starring Friday Night Lights actor Zach Gilford. The film was released on January 17, 2014.
Miller also stars as the lead in the drama film There's Always Woodstock.[12] The film co-stars Jason Ritter, Katey Sagal, James Wolk and Brittany Snow. The film was released March 19, 2014 at the Gasparilla International Film Festival.
In October 2014, Miller booked a recurring role on the ABC sitcom Selfie as Julia Howser, a potential love interest for former Go On co-star John Cho.[13]
Miller is set to star in the upcoming Syfy television series Incorporated.[14]
Personal life
Miller married comedian and actor Adam Nee in 2012.[15]
