Alzheimer's Society of Ireland

Alzheimer's Society of Ireland is an Irish care and research charity for people with dementia and with their carers.[1] The registered offices are located at Blackrock, County Dublin.[2]

Activities

The society operates in conjunction Irelands Health Service Executive,[3] and with their sister organizations in the United Kingdom[4][5][6]

Despite its name, the charity does not exclusively help people with Alzheimer's disease. There are many types of dementia, which is an umbrella term. Dementia types include vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies, frontotemporal dementia, Korsakoff's syndrome, Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease, HIV related cognitive impairment, mild cognitive impairment, and other rarer causes of dementia.

The charity runs a day care support centre on the campus of St. Joseph's Hospital, Dublin.[7]

Funding

The society relies on voluntary donations from the public through fundraising and other activities. It is a registered in Ireland as a charity, number CHY7868.[8][9]
