Andre Tiangco (born November 30, 1970) is an actor from the Philippines.

Biography

He is the only child of Armando Tiangco, an entrepreneur, and Amelia Garcia. Early education was at St. Scholastica's Academy. In high school he attended Don Bosco Academy, an exclusive boys school. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1991 from the Ateneo de Manila University majoring in Communications. Tiangco trained at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in Los Angeles, California.

Theater

The actor's theater credits include Crime and Punishment (where he played the lead role of Rodion Raskolnikov at the Cultural Center of the Philippines), Hamlet also at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, The Iceman Cometh for Dulaang UP,[1] The Merchant of Venice, Macbeth,[2] La Ronde[3] and Once On This Island among many others. He also studied with the renowned Japanese Noh Master Naohiko Umewaka.[4]

Television

Tiangco started his television career in 2001 in the ABS-CBN drama series Recuerdo de Amor. It was followed by other shows such as Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay, Hiram, My Juan and Only, Ysabella, May Bukas Pa, which was the most awarded, most acclaimed and highest rating television show in the Philippines for 2009, Nasaan Ka Maruja?, Tanging Yaman, Gimik 2010, 1DOL, Wansapanataym, Imortal, Buhawi Jack, Mara Clara, Nasaan Ka Elisa?, Walang Hanggan, Aryana, Princess and I, Kahit Puso'y Masugatan and Be Careful With My Heart.

Film

His first movie outing was in the 2006 film Pandanggo opposite Chin Chin Gutierrez and Raymond Bagatsing.[5]

Stage director

Aside from being an actor, Tiangco is also a stage director. He has helmed productions such as Mga Awit ng Ibong Adarna" (an original musical based on the popular Philippine corrido), "Sandosenang Sapatos" (nominated for best play of the year, musical category, at the 21st Aliw Awards 2008),[6] "Orasyon" (as writer and director), Jose Rizal's "Junto Al Pasig (a Rock Musical)",[7] "Once On This Island," "Ang Kinang ni Kahlim," Jose Rizal's El Filibusterismo for Gantimpala Theater Foundation,[8] "Maria: Mater Dei (a Musical Passion Play)," "Ang Munting Emanuel," "In The Woods," "Once In the Island of Oz," "Valenzuela Goes Broadway," "Tony, His Friends and the Amazing Magical Globe," and "What I Really Learned in Pre-School" to note a few.
