Andrew Patrick Gordon (born June 24, 1962) is a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Nevada.
Biography
Gordon was born June 24, 1962 in San Francisco, California.[1] Gordon received his Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in 1984 from Claremont McKenna College. He received his Juris Doctor in 1987 from Harvard Law School. He worked at the law firm of Streich, Lang, Weeks and Cardon from 1987 to 1992. He then worked at the law firm of Dawson and Associates from 1992 to 1994. He was partner from 1997 to 2013 at McDonald, Carano and Wilson LLP, having joined that firm in 1994. His career focused on civil litigation and alternative dispute resolution with a primary emphasis on complex commercial disputes. He regularly served as an arbitrator and mediator.[2]
Federal judicial service
On September 19, 2012, President Obama nominated Gordon to serve as a United States District Judge for the United States District Court for the District of Nevada, to the seat vacated by Judge Kent J. Dawson who took senior status on July 9, 2012.[2] On January 2, 2013, his nomination was returned to the President, due to the sine die adjournment of the Senate.
On January 3, 2013, he was renominated to the same office. His nomination was reported by the Senate Judiciary Committee on February 14, 2013, by voice vote.[3]
The Senate confirmed Gordon in a voice vote on March 11, 2013. He received his commission on March 12, 2013.
