Andrew Smale (born June 14, 1982) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman. He is currently playing for the Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL).
Smale attended the University of Toronto from 2002 to 2006 where he played Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) college hockey with the Toronto Varsity Blues men's ice hockey team.
Smale began his professional career in 2006 with the New Mexico Scorpions of the Central Hockey League (CHL), staying with the team for three seasons before moving on to join the Amarillo Gorillas for the 2009–10 CHL season, and the Rapid City Rush for the 2010–11 and 2011–12 CHL seasons.
On August 14, 2012, Smale signed with the Fayetteville FireAntz of the SPHL.[1] He went on to play 56 games with the FireAntz during the 2012–13 SPHL season, scoring 7 goals and 29 assists for 36 points, and earning 40 penalty minutes and a +13 plus/minus rating. He was recognized for his outstanding play when he was named to the 2012-13 SPHL First All-Star Team.[2]
