Anthony "Teddy" Akumu Agay[3] is a Kenyan footballer who plays for Zambian club ZESCO United and the Kenya national team as a midfielder.

Club career

Early career

MYSA Academy Teddy started playing football in the streets of Mathare slums, Usually barefoot and with a ball made out of polythene bags before Joining the Mathare Youth Sports Academy. He attended Mathare primary until 2005 when he graduated and joined Maina Wanjigi Secondary School in Eastliegh from 2006 to 2009.

Senior career

Gor Mahia Teddy joined Gor Mahia straight from High school after successful trials in January 2010, he operated as an understudy to midfield maestro peter "Pinchez" Opiyo before establishing himself as a first team regular.

Randers Fc (Trials)

In December 2010, Randers Fc, a Danish SuperLiga club came calling on Akumu for trials, He attended 2 weeks trials at the club, he was unsuccessful but the club director of player Development and chief scout had the following to say about his performance, "Overall, Teddy's performance was good. He was very effective defensively, making some well judged sliding tackles early on, winning countless headers and providing good cover in front of Randers’ back four. He was also assured in possession, showing a real willingness to get on the ball and bring others into play."

Al-Khartoum

After a spell at Gor Mahia, Teddy was signed by Sudanese giants Al-Khartoum initially on a six-month loan deal in June 2014, which led to him being signed on a long term deal on September 2014 on a long term deal with Gor Mahia receiving 1.75 Million as compensation. He made 42 appearances for the side scoring four goals and raking up six assists.

Zesco United

On 23 December 2013 Teddy joined Zambian top flight heavy weights Zesco United on a 2-year deal[4]

International career

Teddy plays for the Kenyan national Harambee stars he has 37 caps to his name and an assist. He was part of the team that won the 2013 CECAFA senior challenge cup.
