Club career
As a youth player Volkov played for FK Khimki, and in 2008 he was taken to its reserve team. Playing there for a year, in 2009 he moved to the FC Saturn Moscow Oblast reserves, scoring his first goal and playing 26 matches. He spent the 2010-2011 season with FC Volga Tver, before moving to Latvia in 2011. In early April he was signed by JFK Olimps/RFS.
