Aurata C.Sergius
Aurata C.Sergius or Orata lived a short time prior to the Marsic War. He was distinguished for his love of wealth, luxury and refinement.[1]
Activities
He invented the pensiles balneae, these being baths with the hypocausta under them.[1]
He was the first to make artificial oyster beds at Baiae, from which he obtained a large revenue.[1] Furthermore, he was the first to assert the superiority of the shellfish from the Lucrine lake.[1]

His name is mentioned in respect to legal proceedings in which Cicero participated.[2]
