The Australian Young Greens is a federation of Young Greens groups from each Australian state and territory. Together they form the Youth Wing of the Australian Greens. Like the Australian Greens the Australian Young Greens are underpinned by the four pillars of ecological sustainability, social justice, grassroots democracy and peace and non-violence

Role and Function
The Australian Young Greens are an intrinsic part of the Australian Greens as is each individual state branch within their respective localities. In some states they often take the lead in organising protests, stunts and other events to highlight issues of social injustice and environmental degradation. Some of these include actions against the Zoe's Law bill in New South Wales and actions against the dredging of the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland. The Young Greens have also been active in organising to stop the Federal Governments funding cuts to Universities across Australia.
They are active in critically engaging with policy both within and outside The Greens. Most recently, this has been directed towards education, refugee rights and drug law reform.
The Young Greens are active in most metropolitan and many regional Australian universities. They have strong student union representation at many of these universities, with Young Greens having held the position of President at both the University of Wollongong (2013 & 2014)) and the University of Technology Sydney (2014).
The Young Greens also operate outside of university campuses via regional local groups. Some of these groups cover the Greater Western Sydney region and the Northern Rivers in New South Wales and the Gold and Sunshine Coasts in Queensland.
