Autumn Owls are an experimental rock band from Dublin, Ireland.
History
Autumn Owls was conceived in 2006 by five friends and musicians, Gary McFarlane, Adam Browne, Simon Gillis, William Purtill and Derek Byrne. While studying for final exams in college, the band began writing demos. They were chosen to play Dublin's Hard Working Class Heroes music festival in October, 2007, which was the band's first live performance. In 2008 they released two critically acclaimed EPs, Insomnia Lodge and On the Trail of the Disappearing.[1][2] Since then the band has appeared at North American music festivals like SXSW,[3] CMJ,[4] NXNE, and Canadian Music Week[5] and have regularly toured the US and Europe.
In April 2012, Autumn Owls spent three weeks in Chicago recording their debut full-length with producer Brian Deck (Califone, Modest Mouse, Iron and Wine) at Engine and Soma Studios. .[6] They signed to Epitonic's newly formed label in July 2012 and released their new album on October 16 in Ireland and October 23 in the US. After touring the album in the US the band have returned to Ireland to finish work on their second album.
