"Azillion" (stylized as "AZILLION") is a song recorded by Australian rapper Iggy Azalea for her upcoming second studio album Digital Distortion (2017). The song was produced by D.R.U.G.S., Decapo and Jlbs and was made available for free streaming on 8 January 2016 through her SoundCloud page.
Background and release
In October 2015, Azalea announced the title of her second album, Digital Distortion, which would be released in the following year, with a buzz track titled "Zillion" and the project's lead single premiering before its release.[1][2] In December, during a Twitter Q&A with fans, she revealed that the lead single would be titled "Team." During that month, she also shared snippets of both "Team" and "Zillion", along with another track titled "7teen," via Twitter, stating that "content, buzz songs, viral videos and other cool stuff" would debut in January 2016.[3][4][5][6][7] On 9 January 2016, "Azillion" was released on her SoundCloud page.[8] Azalea has stated "Azillion" won't be an official single from her upcoming album, but rather a preview of what is to come on her record.[9]
Reception
Complex's editor Edwin Ortiz wrote: "The production on "Azillion" leans electronic, and Iggy delivers her signature flow and digestible lyricism about stuntin' on the competition".[9] Mitchell Peters of Billboard commented the "club-ready" track was full of pounding synths mixed with "dizzying" trap beats.[10] Writing for The Fader, Jeff Ihaza noted "the song finds Azalea rapping over far more boisterous, stadium-ready production than on her 2014 debut".[11] For Rap-Up, "Iggy brings the girl power and attitude on the pulsing electro banger."[12]
