Basil Gordon James (August 9, 1894 – November 11, 1961) was the mayor of Newport News, Virginia from 1936 to 1940.[1] He was married to Grace Dickenson.[2] He was born in Beulahville, Virginia.[3] He died in Newport News in 1961. His wife died in 1989.
