Bartolomé González de Villaverde (1512–1589) was a Spanish notary and conquistador.
Biography
Born in 1512 in León, Spain, he was married to María de Santa Cruz, born in Asunción, Paraguay, natural daughter of Spanish conqueror Juan de Santa Cruz.[1] Bartolomé González de Villaverde was one of the first settlers in Asunción, time before had arrived to Buenos Aires in the expedition of Pedro de Mendoza.[2]
Bartolomé González de Villaverde and his wife Maria de Santa Cruz had 12 children, two of whom were the alderman and mayor Bartolomé González de Villaverde,[3] and Roque González de Santa Cruz proclaimed saint by Pope John Paul II.[4]
