Egyptian/Austrian composer known as Bassam Noureddien,^[10][11] born in Kuwait on 6 April 1977 and lives in Austria.

The winner of the Egyptian State Incentive Award for the Arts 2015

He has lived in Egypt since 1985 and now he is living, studying and working in Austria, as well as in places he is invited to give workshops and lectures.

As a child Halaka studied piano in Kuwait and Cairo, taught himself guitar at the age of 14 and bass guitar at the age of 18.

In 2002,Halaka obtained his first Bachelor in music education for cello and piano from the Faculty of Music Education (Helwan University) in Cairo, Egypt. Afterwards, he joined the Cairo Conservatoire (Department of composition and conducting), where he graduated with distinction. In 2007, Bassam obtained his Bachelor in Composition and Conducting, and short after finishing this study he participated in the Global-Interplay by „Musik der Jahrhunderte” symposiums, lectures, workshops and concert program as part of the Egyptian team for Artistic Creation (contemporary music and Composition) partly in Cairo and partly in Berlin and Stuttgart. This programme allowed him to spend one year and a half in the cultural contact with musicians, composers from Germany, Switzerland, Israel, Canada, China, America and Ghana. This chance, which fosters the Egyptian-German cultural exchange, provided him with the opportunity to get acquainted with the European culture. During this Global-Interplay he attended composition workshops with Amr Okba (Egypt- Austria), Professor Walter Zimmermann (Germany), Oliver Schneller (Germany). In 2007 Bassam Halaka joined the masters study in composition at the Cairo Conservatoire. In 2009, Bassam moved to Austria and obtained a masters study in Josef Haydn Konservatorium in Eisenstadt that allowed him to continue with his musical career.

In 2012 he obtained his artistic concerto diploma in Composition and Music theory from Josef Haydn Conservatoire in Eisenstadt (Austria) with Tibor Nemeth. Currently he is following a Masters program in electro-acoustic composition, at the Institute for Electronic Music and Acoustic (IEM) of the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Graz With Professor Dr. Gerhard Eckel. Halaka's honors include the Composition Prize from the Committee of Music, Opera and Ballet in Cairo (2003, 2005, 2007) and selection to participate in the ISCM Global-Interplay Team seminars in Egypt and Germany (2005 Cairo, 2006 Cairo and Germany, 2008 China).

From 2008 until 2012 he had a part in Eu-Art-Network symposiums as Composer, Performer, Electronic support and Sound Engineer.

In 2012 was a participant of ICMC2012 Ljubljana (International Computer Music Conference) Honor guest of Cairo Contemporary Music days April 2014. He obtained a several workshops in the field of the electro acoustic music with Natasha Barrett (Ambisonics - England), Nicolas Collins (Circuit Pending - USA) , Miller Puckette (Pure Data - USA)
