Batesville High School, part of the Batesville Community School District,[2] is a public high school in Batesville, Indiana with an enrollment of about 700.[2][3]
Athletics
Batesville High School is a member of the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference.[4]
Volleyball
The BHS Volleyball Team has posted winning seasons for the last 12 consecutive years. They are the reigning Ripley County Champions from 2001 through 2013, EIAC Champions from 2001 through 2011, and 3A sectional 29 champions from 2005 through 2013. In 2010 BHS volleyball made it to the semi-state match losing to eventual 3A state champion Brebeuf Jesuit. The team has been coached since 2009 by Co-coaches Kateri Paul & Jody Thomas, who have amassed a 150-30 record.
Basketball
The most popular sport at BHS is basketball and the program has had moderate success. The current basketball coach is Aaron Garrett. The basketball team won regionals in 2007, 2008 and 2011. In 2001, the team lost in the 2A state championship game to Fort Wayne.[5]
4 Batesville Bulldogs have been named to the Indiana All-Star team:
- Charles "Jim" Fritsch^ - 1943 == a retroactive pick in 1993; no Indiana All-Star team was selected in 1943 due to World War II
- Curt Clawson - 1978; member of 1984 Big Ten Champion Purdue Boilermakers
- Michael Menser - 1997; member of 2000 Missouri Valley & 2001 Missouri Valley Tournament Champion Indiana State Sycamores
- Colt Ryan - 2007
Football
The football program has also experienced recent success, winning six consecutive sectional titles from 2002 to 2007.[6] Also, in 1986, the football team won a regional title to advance to the semistate.[7] The current football coach is high school math teacher Eric Heppner.
Golf
The golf team went to state in 2012.[8]
