The Battle of Wayamba is the annual cricket match (Big Match) played between Royal College, Wayamba and Sir John Kotalawala College. It is usually played at Welagedara Stadium Kurunegala.[1][2]
Series Summary
8 matches have been played up to 2012. Wayamba Royal registered the first ever win in 2011.[3] Wayamba Royal vice captain Tarindra Ekanayake captured 5 wicket haul to register this historic win.
Last match ,which was held on 16th March 2016 won by Sir John Kothalawala college beating Royal college Wayamba by 155 runs.
Atmosphere
The "Battle of Wayamba" is filled with jovial acts such as flags and baila singing and dancing groups presenting all around the city and the ground during match days.
