Beenish Raja (born 17 December 1990) is a Pakistani model and actress. She is best known for playing Durkhanay in the romantic drama Sang-e-Mar Mar since September 2016.[1]
Early life and modelling career
Beenish originally belongs to a beautiful village Matore, Rawalpindi, Punjab, Pakistan. She took her early education from Rawalpindi Grammar School and then attended Rawalpindi College of Commerce from where she did her B.Com. She pursued her master's degree from Preston University, Islamabad.
She was very keen in taking part in acting since her early childhood. She was best known for her multi talented qualities like singing, acting and ability to produce cartoon character voices. She started her modelling career from her college level in 2011 and worked for Muhammadi Productions. She stayed out of Media for a little while due to her mental illness and emotional outbursts. After attempting suicide twice because of some domestic and drug related issue, she took counselling & strong medication and went back to work.
She appeared in video of Atif Aslam's song "Zameen Jaagti Hai" which was a tribute to Pakistan Army's war against terrorism.[2]
Debut
She appeared in Saif E Hassan's romantic drama serial Sang-e-Mar Mar of HUM TV as Durkhanay; a naughty village girl who is facing conservative Pathan culture.[3] She falls in love with a boy named Goher Khan who is a loafer and womanizer but she fails to recognize his malicious intentions. However, her love saga ends tragically when her lover Goher Khan assaults her to take advantage at secret rendezvous. She screams for help and successfully escapes the scene because Goher Khan is compelled to let her go due to noise of some villagers who were searching for them. Her lover Goher Khan is killed as an honor killing by brother of Durkhanay's friend Shireen in the drama. [4]
She appeared as a guest in HUM TV morning show Jago Pakistan Jago on 20 October 2016 which was a kind of a promotional show of drama serial Sang-e-Mar Mar.[5]
