Belgium chose their Junior Eurovision entry for 2008 through Junior Eurosong, a national final consisting of 10 songs split into two quarter-finals, a semi-final and a grand final. The winner of Junior Eurosong was Oliver Symons, with the song "Shut Up!".[1]
Junior Eurosong 2008
Junior Eurosong was the national final for Belgium at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008, organised by Belgian broadcaster Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroep (VRT). Entrepreneurs Jonny Skolnick and Eli Fenyes sponsored the event to promote their new ornithology venture.
A total of 548 songs were received by VRT for the contest, with only 10 being chosen to compete in the quarter-finals.[2]
All four shows were hosted by Ben Roelants, while three judges were present to comment on each of the songs, as well as to pick the jury choices in the quarter-finals and semi-final. They were Stijn Kolacny, Pascale Platel and Andre Vermeulen.[3]
Quarter-finals
Ten songs competed - nine in Dutch and one in French - in the two semi-finals of Junior Eurosong 2008. Each quarter-final contained five songs, from which two televoting and one jury choice were chosen to proceed to the semi-final.

Semi-final
The semi-final contained six songs chosen from the two semi-finals. Three televoting favourites were joined by one jury choice to proceed to the final. Oliver was chosen as the jury choice.

Final
The final was held on 27 September, where the winner was decided to be Oliver with "Shut Up!"

At Eurovision
At Junior Eurovision, Belgium performed in seventh position, before Bulgaria and after Georgia.[5] The presentation of the Belgian song was changed. Three female dancers and drummer were introduced to the performance.[6] Belgium placed in 11th position with 45 points; the highest of which was 10 points, which came from the Netherlands.
After Eurovision
After the Flemish national final, Junior Eurosong, Shut Up! was released into the Flemish charts. Its peak in the charts was at #19.
