Bhajanpura is a residential area in the North East District of Delhi, India, 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) from Shahdara and 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) from old Delhi railway station. It is highly populated and is in the Trans Yamuna area. It is around 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) from North campus and 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) from ISBT Kashmiri Gate, Shastri Park Metro Station (First Depot of Delhi Metro, built here) and currently used for commercial activities and well suited place for residential purpose.
A Sonia Vihar power plant is recently being built in Bhjanpura. There are few major attractions in this location, but it is a well-suited area because of the nearby interstate bus terminal, railway station and educational institutions like Lal Bhadur Shastri college affiliated with Delhi University 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) from there and Northern Indian Engineering college affiliated with I.P. University is also 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) from there.
The main landmark of Bhajanpura is Bhajanpura Chowk, which is very busy all time. There are various blocks in Bhajanpura such as A,B,C,D etc. and every street is given a number.
Unlike its neighborhood Yamuna VIhar , Bhajanpura is not well planned with no parks at all making it a congested place.
Interesting fact is that Bhajanpura is actually Block A of Yamuna Vihar (as per the locals).
Safety
Around 2012, gates were installed in the busier streets so as to prevent unwanted traffic from the Pusta side. Security guards were also appointed, but were beaten up and since then no security guards have been employed. This not only led to an increase in traffic but also an increased crime rate involving crimes such as snatching of chains. On 10 December 2014 two men/boys snatched a gold chain from a girl by showing her a gun.[1]
Signature Bridge
As of 22 February 2010, a proposal was in progress to create a bridge, known as the "Signature Bridge", over the Yamuna River.[2] Such a bridge would benefit Bhajanpura, amongst other places. It will give a good and faster communication medium with north campus and with new delhi Noida express way which will soon start woking from Majnu Ka Tila to Noida[2] It was proposed because of the 2010 Commonwealth Games, which took place in Delhi, India.
