Bhavnagar Airport (IATA: BHU, ICAO: VABV) is an airport located 4 kilometres (2 mi) southeast of Bhavnagar, Gujarat, India. It covers 295 acres (119 ha) at an elevation of 6 metres (20 ft).[1] It is served by Air India Regional, offering flights to Mumbai.
History
On 13 December 2014, Ventura AirConnect launched nonstop flights between Bhavnagar and Surat using Cessna 208 Caravan aircraft. The flights reduced travel time between the two cities from 6.5 hours to under 30 minutes.[2] Ventura AirConnect now operates four daily flights between Bhavnagar and Surat.[3]
On 27 March 2016, Jet Airways ended its nonstop service between Mumbai and Bhavnagar, as it was not financially viable. This left Bhavnagar Airport without scheduled service for nearly one month. .[4]
On 21 April 2016, Air India Regional started its nonstop service to Mumbai, offering four Evening flights a week .
Runway
The airport has one runway, 07/25, with dimensions 1,920 by 45 metres (6,299 ft × 148 ft). It is equipped with ILS for approaches in the 25 direction.[1]
Terminal
Bhavnagar Airport has a single terminal building, which covers 1,617 square metres (17,410 sq ft) and has a capacity for 110 passengers.[5] It contains three check-in counters and a VIP lounge.[1]
Other facilities
The airport has two parking bays: one for Airbus A321 and Boeing 737 aircraft, the other for ATR 72 and Q400 aircraft.[1]
