Bhupathiraju Somaraju is an Indian surgical cardiologist and the chairman of Care Hospitals, Hyderabad.[2][3] Author of many medical articles in peer reviewed journals[4][5] and an elected fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences,[6] he was honoured by the Government of India, in 2001, with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri.[7]
In 1998, Soma Raju with A. P. J. Abdul Kalam developed a low cost coronary stent, named the "Kalam-Raju Stent".[8][9] In 2012, the duo designed a rugged tablet computer for health care in rural areas, which was named the "Kalam-Raju Tablet".[10]
