Bihariganj a town in Bihar, India. It is in Madhepura district.Bihariganj (Vidhan Sabha constituency) (Hindi: बिहारिगंज विधान सभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र) is an assembly constituency in Madhepura district in the Indian state of Bihar.
History
The ancient name of Bihariganj was "Nishankhpur kodha". In medieval times this place was ruled by "Sen dynasty". In the 16th century the main stream of the Koshi river flowed to this place, named "ha-ha dhar", & there have a small market in Bihariganj . Approximately 2 kilometers near this place, also Gamail Gola was used as a local market where jute, rice, wheat, and other commercial items were purchased and bought by the local people. Biharignaj Railway station is one of the oldest railway stations in northern India. This was the only one of way of communication during 2008 flood.
Geography
Bihariganj is the central market of its surrounded villages. It is surrounded by the villages like Gangaura, Madhukarchak, Mohanpur, Laxmipur, Belahi, Babhangama, Tulsia, Baijnathpur, Vishanpur, Gamail, Mahikhand, Madhuvan Tintenga, and others. There are several chauk (zebra crossing) such as Jawahar chauk, Shastri chauk, Viswkarma chauk, Gandhi Chauk, Subhash Chauk, and Panchwati Chauk, Babhangama chauk. Bihariganj is a Block in Madhepura District. It belongs to Kosi Division. It is located 41 km towards South from District headquarters Madhepura.
Demographics
Maithili is the Local Language here. People also Speaks Hindi, Urdu. The total population of Bihariganj Block is 101,655 living in 18,356 Houses, Spread across total 25 villages and 12 panchayats. Population of males are 52,579 and Females are 49,076.
Economy
This town is famous for its textile business. It also produces Jutes and sugars. People of here mainly depends upon business and agriculture. According to planning commission of India the poverty headcount ratio is 19.83% in Bihariganj.

Ramnavmi Yatra is very famous here. There are many temples such as Chandika Temple, Durga Temple, Hanuman temple, and Shiva Temple. It is mainly mithila oriented society. People although are of different caste and creed but in their blood mithila culture is running. They are very soft and honest, kind hearted and sympathetic in nature by born-a survey of New York encyclopedia says.
