Bolongaro Trevor
Bolongaro Trevor is a fashion brand from Kait Bolongaro and Stuart Trevor, original founders and former designers behind retail group AllSaints.[1]
Bolongaro Trevor was launched by the couple in 2006, after they sold their shares in AllSaints.[2][3] The brand originates from London's East End, with their head office being located in Hoxton in an old Victorian tea house.[4] The label, producing fashion for both men and women, offers a range of T-shirts, jackets, dresses, trousers, jeans, skirts, coats, knitwear, shirts and accessories.[5] The brand also had a successful collaboration with the footwear brand Underground,[6] which included the signature Creeper style.
The brand takes design inspiration from Victorian London,[7] as well as vintage military wear.[8] Stuart is recorded as saying, "When we started Bolongaro Trevor, we wanted to produce a totally different aesthetic to what we had created at All Saints. We were 28 years old when we started All Saints and it was all about what we wanted to wear then. This next venture gave us an opportunity to create a new, higher level, more beautiful original product – what we want to wear now – clean, crisp and neat, yet worn-in and slightly more classic – with a wink!"[9]
Stuart Trevor attended Nottingham Trent University and graduated in 1988 with a BA in fashion design.[10] Following university he served as head of menswear at Reiss for seven years.[11] before he went on to found AllSaints in 1994. Kait Bolongaro studied at Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication and graduated in 1990, she then subsequently earned an MA in Fashion Design from the Royal College of Art in 1992, following this, she joined Trevor at AllSaints in 1996.
The brand is known for its celebrity following with the likes of Daisy Lowe,[7] Gwen Stefani,[12] Courtney Love,[13] Liam Gallagher, Leighton Meester, Helena Bonham Carter,[14] The Who[15] and The Libertines[16] wearing it. The company has previously shown at London Fashion Week in 2010,[17] as well as frequenting the French trade show; Tranoï.
The fashion brand now has eight stores, five in London; Old Spitalfields Market,[18] Broadwick Street off Carnaby Street,[19] Westbourne Grove off Portobello Market, Seven Dials[20] and Richmond.[21] They then have subsequent stores in Birmingham,[22] Leeds[23] and Nottingham,[24] with plans as of October 2013 to open further stores across Britain and internationally over the following five years.[25] Bolongaro Trevor has also been stocked in Selfridges, the world-famous department store, as well as internationally in cities such as Tokyo, Paris, Stockholm and New York.[26]
Bolongaro and Trevor have received substantial investment from a Middle Eastern group who have acquired 100% of the business from Kait and Stuart Trevor and have opened a new store in Stratford Westfield on 7 August 2015. They have plans for further expansion by franchising within the UK as well as in Middle East and USA in 2016.
Bolongaro & Trevor is now being run by Muhammad Omar Jalil a graduate from London school of Economics.
