Bullseye by Intelliseek
Bullseye by Intelliseek is a discontinued desktop computer program from Intelliseek, a company now owned by Nielsen Online. It functioned as a desktop web metasearch engine, webpage content change tracker and analyzer, and notification program.
It had two versions, BullsEye Pro (which included Tracker) and Bullseye Plus. Both versions ran on Windows 98, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
First released in September 1998, BullsEye was the first Internet software to integrate guided, intelligent search capabilities, analysis, and management of web-based information with automated tracking and alerts for changes. It had powerful search agents, including searching of over 1000 existing search engines and databases. It also automated retrieval of new information in selected areas of user interest.
Features
The most recent version of BullsEye, version 3.0, contained the following features:
- Webpage tracking
- Search engine based searches, although more recent changes by search engines had rendered the program incompatible with most.
- Government agent access to over 100 US Government search engines
- Many search sources in a single application - 1000+ for BullsEye Pro and 800+ for BullsEye Plus.
- Ability to search web content in several languages, including French, Spanish and Russian.
- "SurfSaver integration," allowing permanent saving and copying of web pages with formatting
- Ability to search a website with the incorporated spidering BullsEye Tracker (in BullsEye Pro only), which allowed tracking of information at the site, page or item level. It also enabled tracking of new material within a specified date range with email or page notifications.
- Organization of search results by concepts and fine-grained filtering techniques
- Multiple report formats, including XML and HTML compact.
