Cajal Institute
The Cajal Institute (Spanish: Instituto de Neurobiología Ramón y Cajal) in Madrid is the largest neuroscience research center in Spain.
The histologist Santiago Ramón y Cajal founded the Laboratorio de Investigaciones Biológicas in 1902 which later became the Instituto Cajal (Cajal Institute) upon his retirement in 1922.
The scientific activities of the institute follow a multidisciplinary approach and focus on fundamental questions of the structure and function of the nervous system.
