Cardiff News (branded on air as #CardiffNews) is a local television news and current affairs programme, covering Cardiff. Produced by Made in Cardiff, the programme airs at 6pm and 9pm every weekday evening and broadcasts from studios in Cardiff city centre.

Overview

Launched in October 2014 as Hello Cardiff, the programme focuses exclusively on news stories from the Cardiff area,[1] as opposed to the national news services provided by BBC Cymru Wales and ITV Cymru Wales. It is currently the only localised TV news programme to be produced in Wales.

The programme was relaunched in February 2016 as Cardiff's Local News and moved to new timeslots of 6pm and 9pm, followed two months later by a rebrand to #CardiffNews.[2][3] The programme's journalists are Laura Allen and Matthew Harris.

An hour-long weekly review programme, airs on Saturdays and Sundays at 7pm.

In July 2016, the station reported it claimed a weekly audience of nearly 100,000 viewers for #CardiffNews.[4]
