Cashmere is the first studio album by Swet Shop Boys.[9] It was released via Customs on October 14, 2016.[10] It peaked at number 45 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.[11] Redinho handled the production,[12] while rappers Heems and Riz MC shared vocal duties.[13] Sofian Khan directed a music video for "T5", which was released on September 29, 2016.[14]

Critical reception

At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average score out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, Cashmere received an average score of 80% based on 8 reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews".[1]

Chris Dart of Exclaim! gave Cashmere a 9 out of 10, writing, "it's full of three-minute gems that get your head nodding and your brain working hard to parse multi-layered metaphors, and that stop when you're still wanting more."[6] Tanner Smith of PopMatters gave the album 7 stars out of 10, describing it as "an undeniably complicated but fun album that reckons with South Asian representation in the global pop culture of 2016."[8]
