Catherine J. Ross
Catherine J. Ross is a professor of law at The George Washington University Law School where she is a constitutional law expert specializing in the First Amendment as well as family law and the legal and policy issues affecting children and families.[1]
Education
Ross received her BA, PhD, and JD from Yale University.
Free speech in public schools
Ross advocates for censorship-free public schools.[2] Ross in 2015 published Lessons in Censorship: How Schools and Courts Subvert Students' First Amendment Rights. The Newseum in 2015 held an event, "The First Amendment and Students: Speak Up or Shut Up?" with Ross on her research and book.[3] In 2016, C-SPAN covered "The Constitution on Campus: The Contested Boundaries of Free Speech" held at GW Law focusing on free speech issues on college campuses.[4] Also in 2016, C-SPAN BookTV covered the Cato Institute's "Lessons In Censorship" featuring Ross and her book.[5]
