"Children Of The Wild" is a song recorded by Greek-Swedish DJ and music producer Steve Angello for his debut studio album, Wild Youth. It features the American duo Mako.
Release
"Children Of The Wild" was initially introduced by Angello in 2013, who proceeded to close his set with it at the Ultra Music Festival the following two years.[1] The song was eventually released as the second single from Wild Youth on 1 July 2015. Before being officially released, the song was exclusively released via Spotify one month earlier on 1 June 2015. Angello donated all of the song's streaming revenue from Spotify to the Save The Children organization.[1] As of June 2016, the song has gained over 13 million streams on Spotify.
Composition
With a tempo of 128 beats per minute, "Children Of The Wild" is composed in the F-sharp minor key.
Critical reception
The song received mixed reviews. Marcus Dowling of Lessthan3 praised the song saying, "this is a track that extends beyond the dancefloor." He concluded, "as an attempt at trying to find the bridge between club-friendly and stadium-sized sounds, it's a step in the right direction."[2]
On 29 June 2015, just days before the official release, Paul Pledger of Peek-a-Boo music magazine gave the song a negative review, giving the song a rating of 1 out of 10 stars; a score of 5 out of 100. About the song he stated, "it's not good," referring to it as "a dated aural miasma I never want to hear again."
Music video
The official video was directed by Guillaume Panariello, and was uploaded to Steve Angello's Youtube and VEVO account on 16 September 2015.
In the four minute long video, we observe a young boy trying to run from pure chaos in a corrupt environment. The entire video is shot in slow motion to show the detailed madness found in the apocalyptic landscape, and to capture the great intensity of every second.
So far, the video has gained over 1 million views on Youtube.

On 11 October 2015, a 15 year old dj from New York who goes by the name Simon Alex won the official remix competition for the song held by Steve Angello.
