Christian Democracy (Italy, 2012)
This article is about the Italian political party formed in 2012. For other parties with identical or similar name, see Christian democracy (disambiguation).
Christian Democracy (Democrazia Cristiana, DC) is a minor christian democratic political party in Italy. The current leader of the party is Gianni Fontana.
The party was launched by Clelio Darida, a former minister of Justice, in March 2012. At the founding congress Darida was elected honorary president, while Gianni Fontana, a former minister of Agriculture, and Silvio Lega, a former MEP, were made secretary and president, respectively.[1][2]
In May 2012 Giampiero Catone, a deputy elected with The People of Freedom and formerly a leading member of the United Christian Democrats, the Union of Christian and Centre Democrats and Christian Democracy for the Autonomies, joined the party, which was thus given parliamentary representation.[3]
