Claud A. Hatcher
Claud Adkins Hatcher (20 August 1876 – 31 December 1933) invented RC (Royal Crown) beverages. He was a Columbus, Georgia pharmacist and son of a grocer.
Through the family-owned Hatcher Grocery Company, Hatcher introduced a cola drink in 1905 called Royal Crown Ginger Ale. In the same year a company was formed to bottle the popular drinks, Union Bottling Works.
Hatcher is buried in the Riverdale Cemetery in Muscogee County, Georgia. His will established the Pickett & Hatcher Educational Fund, a non-profit student lender.
