Claudio María Joly (c.1829-1897) was a French landowner. He served as a member of the first Municipal committee of the village of Moreno, Province of Buenos Aires.[1]
Biography
Joly was born in Louhans (France), arrived at the port of Buenos Aires from Europe circa 1845.[2] Established in Buenos Aires, Joly was owner of one of the most important libraries in the city. His business was located in the Victoria street, neighborhood of San Nicolas.[3]
Claudio Joly was owner of vast hectares of land in Buenos Aires Province. He participated in the founding of the city of Moreno,[4] and on January 3, 1863, he, had donated land for the construction of the Church of the town.[5] He also was the founder of the Sociedad Francesa de Moreno (French Society of Moreno).[6]
