The coat of arms of the Municipality of Alba Iulia unites the traditional heraldic symbols of the three Romanian Principalities: Wallachia's golden eagle, Moldavia's black aurochs, and Transylvania's two lions rampant (i.e. standing on their hind legs). In chief is a Romanian crown on a ermine field.
