Community Driven Local Development (KP)

Community Driven Local Development (CDLD) is a four-year budetary support programme meant to bring social and structural improvements in six districts of the Malakand Division,[1][2] in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.[3]

Scope and purpose

It is a public–private partnership, [4] which sets out a fiscal and regulatory framework, encouraging district authorities to work directly with local communities.[5] The selected districts of Malakand Division, for implementation of the programme include Chitral, Lower Dir, Malakand, Shangla, Swat and Upper Dir.[6]

Authorities aim to achieve sustainable development through a ground-up-approach. The project is being implemented on community participation basis.[7] The CDLD programme was rolled out in 2014 by the K-P Government with financial assistance of 64 million Euros from the European Union.[8] The Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) partners with the EU to help organize the communities through social mobilisation.
