Coquille (engineering)
A Coquille is a re-usable form for permanent mold casting of metals and alloys. When used for casting, coquilles are used specifically for casting using gravity. This means that the mold is preheated and molten metal is poured into it, so that the metal may solidify into the negative shape of the mold. There are also coquilles containing glass with high radioactive nuclear waste used for transport and storage.
