Cristina Gallach (born 1960) is the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information. Prior to her appointment on 4 December 2014 by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Gallach was with the Council of the European Union as Head of the Public Relations Unit. [1]
Biographical information
A national of Spain, Gallach has extensive experience in the field of communications. She has held several high-level positions and has worked as a spokesperson for the Spanish Government, the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Prior to this she worked as a journalist for several news agencies including El Periódico, Avui and TVE Barcelona. Gallach is a graduate of Columbia University in New York where she obtained a Master's degree in International Affairs, and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona where she obtained an undergraduate degree in Journalism.
