D'Atra Hicks (born Deitra Hicks; December 28, 1968 in Harlem, New York) is an American actress and singer. She is best known for her role as Jackie Simmons in Tyler Perry's 2002 stage play Madea's Family Reunion. She has also performed as Nurse Trudy in the 2006 stage play What's Done in the Dark and as Niecy in the 2009 play Laugh to Keep from Crying.
Career
She began her career portraying Doris Winter in the Broadway gospel musical Mama I Want To Sing! from 1986 to 1990.[1] Hicks released her self-titled debut album for Capitol Records on September 9, 1989. Her album debuted at number 63 and sat 10 weeks on the Top R&B Albums chart.
