History
Public transit appeared in Davenport in 1969 when the city of Davenport created a City Transit Authority.[1] The authority at first provided monetary support to Davenport City Lines Bus Company which was a privately owned company. After a few years the city purchased the Davenport City Lines and placed the operation of public transportation under the jurisdiction of the City's Department of Municipal Transportation. Today, CitiBus is a division of the Department of Public Works. In 2009, Citibus saw a ridership of 1,125,511 customers.[2]
