David Beebe is an American media and marketing executive, as well as a film, television, and digital media producer. He cofounded the Disney-ABC Television Group Digital Studio, and served as a vice-president there, at FishBowl Worldwide Media, and at Marriott International. He is the founder of David Beebe Projects and his work has received Emmy, Webby, and Telly awards.
Television production career
Early in his career, Beebe worked at companies including Showtime and DirecTV.[1] Beebe was then one of the cofounders of the Disney-ABC Television Group Digital Studio,[2] serving as Vice-President. There, “he worked on webisodes, original series and live shows for the group’s broadcast and cable networks, including ABC Entertainment, ABC Daytime, ABC Family and SoapNet,” according to Advertising Age.[1] In his role at ABC, he was a producer for the Annual Academy Awards television broadcast from 2007 to 2011. He was also an executive producer for Scrubs: Interns, Mode After Hours, and Seattle Grace: On Call.[3] In 2011, Beebe became the first VP-general manager of Digital Studio at FishBowl Worldwide Media.[1] In the years following, he became Senior Vice President-General Manager of the division.[4] At FishBowl he also was executive producer for the hidden camera series Meet Cute, in partnership with Ashley Tisdale’s production company Blondie Girl.[5]
Marriott Content Studio
Starting in July 2014, Beebe became the VP of creative, content marketing and global marketing at Marriott International.[6] In this role, he founded the company’s original content department, Marriott Content Studio, focusing on web series, television, short films, and live music specials,.[7][8][9] and served as the head of the studio as it began producing.[10] These productions included projects like YouTube videos featuring Grace Helbig.[11] The short films French Kiss and Two Bellmen, received eleven million views on the video site. Within a year, the studio was the largest producer of travel-related content in the world.[12]
Other production work
Beebe executive produced the PBS food and travel series I'll Have What Phil's Having with Philip Rosenthal. He also produced the original web series Ultimate Proposal and Stunt Nation for Yahoo.com and co-created the YouTube series Petsami and Toddletable.[13] In 2015 Beebe became an executive producer for I’ll Have What Phil’s Having hosted by Rosenthal on PBS.[14] He is also the founder of his own production studio David Beebe Projects.[15]
Recognition
Beebe has received an Emmy award for his production work.[2] In 2010, he received a Webby award in the Documentary category for Fate.[16] His own production company’s Do Good Mob was awarded several Telly awards.[17]
