Dawid Kostecki vs Roy Jones, Jr.
Roy Jones was supposed to face Dawid Kostecki in a ten round bout at Atlas Arena on June 30. Days before the fight, Kostecki was convicted of being the ringleader of a criminal organization and was thrown in jail. Other Polish boxer, Paweł Głażewski stepped in to fight Jones instead. Jones defeated the 17-0 Głażewski by split decision.
Trouble with the law
October 31, 2011 the District Court in Rzeszów sentenced Kostecki to 2.5 years in prison for setting up and co-ownership of a criminal group. In 2003-2007 the group conducted three escort agencies. Investigators also accused him of trafficking in amphetamine, but the court acquitted him of the complaint. The boxer lodged an appeal. May 10, 2012 Court of Appeal upheld the judgment of 2.5 years imprisonment. On the night of 19/20 June 2012 was stopped by police officers and brought to serve a punishment. August 13, 2014 was released from prison.[2]
Comeback to ring
After coming back from the prison Kostecki extended for 4 years his contract with Andrzej Wasilewski, who is owner of the polish group Knockout Promotions. Kostecki plans his comeback in the boxing ring on breakthrough of October and November.[3]
