DealsPlus is an online coupon and deal social commerce website combining aspects of both the major online coupon sites like RetailMeNot and the user-generated content driven deal focused site Slickdeals. DealsPlus’ Twitter feed was listed by Time (magazine) as one of the best Twitter feeds to follow in 2011.[2] Like other coupon and deals sites SEO plays an important role in DealsPlus’ business. Based on an SEO analysis, Priceonomics ranked DealsPlus 3rd behind Retailmenot and Coupons.com for a sample of key word terms.[3]

Overview

DealsPlus sources deal and coupon content from its community of users as well as from a group of power users called Money Makers.[4] DealsPlus’ Money Makers can earn a guaranteed minimum of $300 per month[5] for submitting coupons and deals and can earn substantially more depending on the performance of the deals and coupons they submit.[6] In addition to crowd sourced community deals, DealsPlus actively negotiates with merchants to secure exclusive deals for its users.[7]

History

DealsPlus was founded in 2006 as a social deal and coupon site. DealsPlus attempted to acquire the domain dealsplus.com in 2010 through a UDRP action but a 3 judge panel rejected the UDRP claim.[8] In early 2013 DealsPlus acquired Dealsplus.com for an unknown sum and changed some of its branding and design to reflect ownership of the new URL.

In 2010, DealsPlus launched the Money Makers Program [9] which allowed regular users of the site to earn money based on their contributions.
